A Disquiet In Monochrome

Night rain falls over stirring roses,
the fractured sound of hard drops
against newborn grass mingled
in dust and starlight.

Hands reaching blindly towards
memories of amarantine love
unable to grasp emotions held
between the spaces of fingertips.

A touch of grace in unshed tears
and hidden meanings lost
behind words once freely embraced
in unspoken code between two.

A disquiet in monochrome,
shades of forbidden love.

Remember | Christina Rossetti

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Let Me Go | Christina Rossetti

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
When I am dead my dearest
Sing no sad songs for me
Plant thou no roses at my head
Nor shady cypress tree
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet
And if thou wilt remember
And if thou wilt, forget.
I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not fear the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on as if in pain;
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.

Fissure

Fissure cracked through suspended thrums,
tumbled thoughts slip through embers
burning in a sea of ash where salvation’s
fire once blazed.

Brush your fingers through the darkness,
sift the letters of your name from the
remains of flames, stoke the heat lying
beneath the cold black.

Lips whispering syllables of forgotten
words in yesterday’s voice, eyes like
stained glass glisten as love begins
to pool on the floor.

Hold my heart tight in your hands,
bleeding words spill, through reluctant
veins, it’s uncontrolled.  The passion
overflowed, it cascaded out.

Ripcord

Shattered echos
and fragments
of a forgotten symphony
pierce the air.

Sapphire waters
beckon and
wildflowers dot the
ground like stained glass.

Pull the ripcord
let’s fly.

Chaos and Calm

Windswept heart rapidly beating
through waves of chaos and calm—
the fire and rain pelt against
the chambers made of glass
fragile words etched into the
walls, details tangled with the flowers.

Touch them.

Run your fingers against the braille,
read the words you carved into my soul
and understand the poetry mingled
with thornless roses. Breathe in
the petrichor of desire, feel the embers
flicker at your touch.

Close your eyes.

Feel the beats, the pulse of music,
a sonata slipping through the guarded
walls. The need imbued in soothing
velvet petals and the tempest of
ecstasy that spread through your flesh.
Exhale inhibitions, and remember—

Remember.
